Fundraising

The Friends of Basingbourne Park is a voluntary organisation. Our running costs (including administrative costs, event running costs, website costs, etc) are covered by our modest subscription (£5 per household per calendar year). We also receive a generous annual grant from Fleet Town Council to cover our Public Liability Insurance.

In addition to this, we raise funds for key projects to improve the Park for our park users or for the wildlife living in the Park. For these, we accept donations at our community events (like our Easter Egg Hunt and Family Fun Run) and we run some dedicated fund raising events (like our Christmas Quiz and Social). We also accept ad hoc donations from individuals and businesses, and we make grant applications to awarding bodies (including Hampshire County Council, Fleet Town Council, Rushmoor Council (Airport Fund), Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Fleet Lions).

Please contact us by e-mail info@basingbournepark.org.uk if you would like to make a donation for a project or to help with our work. (We prefer direct bank transfers and can accept card payments with our “Sum-up” card device. We can also accept cheques or cash if preferred.)

Gondola/Snake swing:

We are now actively fund raising for a Gondola Swing to fill the space left by decommissioning of the old climbing frame in early 2025. This equipment that will encourage children in the target age group (8 to 16) to spend more time in the park, socialising and their peers whilst also being physically active and encouraging team work to get the swing moving. It can use used by younger and older park users!

We have had budgetary estimates for a large gondola swing (including delivery, installation and safety surfacing) of around £20,000.

Target: £20,000

Currently Raised: £6,000

In March 2026, FoBP presented this project to Fleet Town Council who agreed to adopt the project for further feasibility, budget and planning work. We hope that the project will be ready for review at the next FTC RLA Committee Meeting in June 2026.

FoBP have ringfenced the funds raised from our Easter Egg Hunts, Carol Singing, Christmas Quiz and social and other fund raising in a fund for new Play Equipment, and will contribute it to the project if it progresses. (FTC will seek additional funds from Section 106 Developer Funds (administered by Hart District Council.)
